Jared Schlenker

Biography

Dr. Jared Schlenker serves as the Associate Dean for Student Success in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota. In this role, he provides leadership for college-wide student success initiatives, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners to strengthen recruitment, retention, student engagement, and the overall student experience across undergraduate and graduate programs.

Since joining UND in 2017, Dr. Schlenker has served in a variety of academic and administrative leadership roles, including Program Director, Associate Chair, Faculty Fellow for Student Success, and interim Associate Dean. His work has focused on developing systems that promote communication, student belonging, data-informed decision-making, and cross-campus collaboration. He has also led initiatives in accreditation support, student engagement, accessibility, and strategic planning.

Before entering higher education, Dr. Schlenker spent 19 years serving North Dakota schools as a secondary English teacher, secondary principal, curriculum director, transportation director, athletic coach, and state accreditation team member. These experiences continue to shape his collaborative and student-centered approach to leadership.

Dr. Schlenker is also a Clinical Associate Professor in Educational Leadership, where he has taught graduate courses in leadership, school finance, and organizational communication. His professional interests include student success, leadership development, organizational improvement, and building educational communities where students, faculty, and staff feel connected, supported, and empowered to succeed.
